PHOENIX — The Mets conducted their own version of the Manhattan Project in the desert Sunday, and the results were conclusive.
Four bombs in one afternoon will more often than not mean success, especially with a pitcher of Jacob deGrom’s caliber on the mound.
It all came together for a day. The Mets matched a season high with four home runs and let deGrom and the bullpen handle the rest in a 6-3 victory over the Diamondbacks at Chase Field.
After two straight sluggish losses in which the Mets were a mess offensively, Curtis Granderson blasted two homers and Eric Campbell and Wilmer Flores hit one apiece in helping the team finish with a split in the four-game series.
