The Mets defeated the Athletics by a score of 8-0 in the series finale to take the series in Sacramento. It took awhile but the floodgates finally opened for the Mets offense when they scored four runs in the ninth inning.
Brandon Nimmo got it started with a single that was deflected off the glove by second baseman Max Muncy and it went downhill from there for the Athletics. Centerfielder Seth Brown lost a ball in the sun off the bat of Mark Vientos that led to a run, and the shortstop also made an error that allowed the eighth run to score.
