The New York Mets are finalizing a trade to acquire outfielder Jesse Winker from the Washington Nationals, looking to add another productive bat to a one of the best lineups in baseball, sources tell ESPN.
The deal for Winker, which is pending medical review, would send the 31-year-old to a New York team that since June 3 has scored the most runs in baseball and hit the second-most home runs. In that time, the Mets have climbed from 11 games under .500 to 55-49 and in possession of the second wild-card spot in the National League.
