The Mets acquired some help for their tired, recently overworked bullpen, formally announcing the acquisition of Addison Reed from Arizona. Reed is expected to join the team Monday.
Reed, 26, recorded 104 saves over five seasons with the White Sox and Diamondbacks. This season, he went 2-2 with a 4.20 ERA in 38 games for Arizona. To acquire Reed, wh0 is contractually under control for two more years, the Mets surrendered minor league righties Miller Diaz and Matt Koch.
Before the finalized deal was announced, manager Terry Collins addressed the need for some immediate bullpen help without specifically naming Reed.
