NEW YORK -- Two nights removed from a standing ovation that had him in tears and thinking his time in New York was over, infielder Wilmer Flores received multiple rounds of applause Friday from Mets fans. With the non-waiver Trade Deadline having come and gone, Flores is still a member of the Mets -- and suddenly very much a tender spot in Mets fans' hearts.
A mostly filled Citi Field crowd stood up in unison and cheered Flores after his sensational diving stop of a grounder in the first inning. He also received ovations before his first at-bat and after his RBI single in the fourth inning.
