Mets expected to part ways with Dan Warthen

The Mets are expected to part ways with pitching coach Dan Warthen after the season, reports Mike Puma of the NY Post.

Warthen, who has served as pitching coach since June of 2008, has overseen a staff that has posted a team ERA of 5.01 this season -- better than only the Cincinnati Reds.

According to Puma, the top candidates to replace Warthen are Mets bullpen coach Ricky Bones and minor league pitching coordinator Ron Romanick.

Frank Viola, currently serving as pitching coach for Triple-A Las Vegas, is not expected to be a candidate to replace Warthen, according to Puma.
