Kristie Ackert of The NY Daily News spoke with Mets’ pitcher Erik Goeddel. She found out that while he was on vacation in Cabo this offseason, he played golf with Utley. No, this was not a planned outing, and from the sounds of it, Goeddel had no choice in the matter.
Tyler Goeddel, Erik’s brother who is currently on the Phillies, ran into Utley at the gym in the hotel they were staying at, and that’s when the planning happened. Tyler came back from the gym and informed his brother that he had set a tee time with a “new friend” of his who had also played at UCLA and was on the Phillies.
