The Mets have seen enough of Keon Broxton.
The slumping outfielder was designated for assignment on Friday the team announced, a day after striking out with the bases loaded to end a 7-6 loss to the Nationals.
He has just one hit in his last 25 at-bats and is hitting .143 on the season after going 4-for-9 to start. His playing time has diminished, which he feels kept him from getting to a groove and causing him to question the team’s plan for him.
“From the start of the season, I’ve been surprised at why I haven’t been playing as much and why I haven’t got as many opportunities,” Broxton said after Thursday’s loss.
