The New York Mets made a splash in the offseason by trading for the 2018 American League reliever of the year Edwin Diaz. With the bullpen being the main priority, the organization decided to bring in a lockdown closer to ensure the team closes out games a little more effortlessly.
2018 was a career year for Diaz as he became on the league’s best relief pitchers. He posted the best ERA of his career with a 1.96 and had a whopping total of 124 strikeouts in 73.1 innings pitched. He also had a career-high and Major League-leading 57 saves last season.
