Mets drop frustrating finale with the Rockies

The Mets’ firs half ended with a thud, dropping the series finale with the Rockies, 8-5. With six home runs on the day, the Rockies beat up on Mets pitching, and even the Mets’ formidable offense was not enough.

The Rockies got off to a quick start, with Charlie Blackmon leading the game off with a base hit, followed immediately by a Ezequiel Tovar home run to put the Rockies up 2-0. Quintana settled down and, after a couple of strikeouts, got through the inning.

Germán Márquez made his first start after Tommy John Surgery and, early on, looked every bit the ace he was before going under the knife.
