Mets-Dodgers delayed by broken phone, Utley booed heavily

Injured Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada limps on to the field during pregame introductions, but he is carried out of the locker room by rookie Matt Reynolds (r.).

The confusing five-minute delay before Matt Harvey's first pitch in Game 3 of the NL division series had nothing to do with warnings over Chase Utley's takeout of slide of Ruben Tejada on Saturday in Los Angeles.

MLB announced during the first inning that the brief delay was due to Dodgers manager Don Mattingly's complaint to the umpires that the phone used to determine whether to challenge plays for replay reviews in the visiting dugout was not functioning as the first pitch approached.
