The Mets bolstered their infield this week with the signing of free agent third baseman Todd Frazier. When the signing became official on Wednesday afternoon, it was time to create a space on the 40-man roster for the acquisition. Shortly after Frazier’s introductory press conference, the club announced that it was designating Matt Reynolds for assignment.
Originally drafted by the Mets in the second round of the 2012 Draft, Reynolds played in 115 games between 2016 and 2017, filling in at every infield position as well as playing a little outfield.
