NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — It looks like the Dillon Gee era with the Mets may soon be over.
The club designated the veteran right-hander for assignment on Monday and will attempt to trade him over the next week. If a taker is not found, Gee will be put through waivers and then possibly sent down to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Gee allowed eight runs over 3 2/3 innings on Sunday in the Mets’ 10-8 win over Atlanta at Citi Field, and is 0-3 with a 5.90 ERA in eight appearances, including seven starts, this season, as he’s struggled to find a niche on a crowded staff.
