Mets RHP Jacob deGrom threw eight strong innings for the third straight start but made MLB history with his extremely low ERA and extremely low win total in Monday's 3-2 loss to the San Diego Padres at Citi Field.
DeGrom (5-5) became the first pitcher in MLB history to have an ERA below 2.00 in his first 20 starts of a season and win fewer than seven games.
He is on pace to become the first pitcher in modern MLB history to throw 200 or more innings, have an ERA under 2.00, and win nine games or fewer.
