Mets’ David Wright Undergoes Successful Neck Surgery

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Mets captain David Wright will have surgery to repair a herniated disc in his neck.

The Mets announced he’ll have the operation Thursday in Marina del Rey, California. The decision to proceed with surgery was made after weeks of tests, rest and anti-inflammatory injections.

Wright said in a statement that his “neck simply did not respond to any of the treatments of the past few weeks.” He said while it’s frustrating, he’s “determined to make a full recovery and get back on the field as soon as I can to help the Mets win.
