Mets Daily Prospect Report, 9/2/24: Sproat looks ready

SYRACUSE 1, LEHIGH VALLEY 0 (BOX)

Fantastic game for two of the Mets’ top prospects. Drew Gilbert launched a home run for the only run of the game, while Brandon Sproat struck out six in 5.1 innings. Sproat looked fantastic. Public scouts have described Sproat as “Paul Skenes, but a little worse at everything”, and that tracks pretty well. The fastball shape still isn’t fantastic but there’s a lot to like here and he looks close to ready. We’ll see if he - or maybe even Gilbert, who has come on strong of late - make an appearance down the stretch here.
