Luisangel Acuna hit a three-run homer in the top of the third and Yolmer Sanchez added another run with a solo shot in the fourth, but Brandon Sproat gave it all back in the bottom of the inning. The right-hander was on cruise control up until that point, allowing just a single walk while striking out five, but he just fell apart. After allowing a David Dahl solo homer to lead off the inning, he allowed three more runs on hit two batters, two singles and a double. Joey Lucchessi held the IronPigs scoreless and kept Syracuse in the ballgame during his time on the mound, but they plated two off of Grant Hartwig in the bottom of the eighth.
