Mets’ Cuddyer undergoes core muscle surgery

New York Mets OF Michael Cuddyer underwent surgery on Thursday in Philadelphia for a core muscle injury.

Cuddyer missed lots of time during the second half of the regular season due to a left knee injury that ultimately landed him on the disabled list after the Mets initially kept him active.

In the postseason, Cuddyer started Game 1 of the NLDS against Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers but struggled in the field and at the plate. Overall, Cuddyer had only 11 at-bats in the postseason, managing just one hit.
