The crowd the Mets drew to the Tradition Field complex on Friday was the largest in the 28-year history of the site, with over 1,500 fans in attendance.
Mets manager Terry Collins commented on the huge crowd, and Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal, who recently left the Mets beat to cover the Yankees, said that the other New York team couldn’t have had more than 200 fans at their workout on Friday in Tampa.
The Mets drew 2.56 million fans to Citi Field last season, which was their biggest turnout since 2010 — the second year of Citi Field’s existence.
