Mets’ Collins plans to platoon Michael Conforto

The Mets plan to sit Michael Conforto against left-handers while playing Juan Lagares, manager Terry Collins said.

While Collins noted that Conforto is capable of hitting left-handers and that he’ll be a very good hitter in this league, he remains committed to Lagares in center field against lefties.

“We’ve made a decision when we face left-handed starters that Juan’s going to play, because Juan has good numbers against left-handers,” Collins said.

When Lagares plays, the plan is for him to be in center field with Yoenis Cespedes sliding over to left field and Curtis Granderson in right field.
