Mets: Collins’ managing was indefensible on Tuesday

Before Tuesday night’s game, I wrote here that the just-activated Bobby Parnell should only be used in mop-up situations for now. In the sixth inning of Tuesday’s game, with the Mets trailing by the score of 6-4, Terry Collins called on Parnell to start what turned out to be an eight-run inning for the Phillies. It was an indefensible move, and cost the Mets any chance at completing the comeback.

The Mets had entered the bottom of the fifth down 6-0 but put up four runs to get right back in the game.
