Mets: Collins, Alderson weigh in on manager’s two-year extension, 2016

Terry Collins and Sandy Alderson weighed in on the manager’s two-year contract extension on Wednesday at Citi Field, and discussed the challenges facing the Mets in 2016.

With Collins now under contract through the 2017 season, Alderson said that Collins had “kept the team together, kept it competitive, kept our heads above water” during the middle of the season when the Mets’ offense was historically bad.

Alderson later noted that Collins is appreciated by the players because of his “authenticity.”

Collins, speaking for the first time since the end of the World Series, said that it’s an “honor and a privilege” to be returning to manage the club for the next two seasons.
