Mets claim Nick Tropeano off waivers, Luis Guillorme returns from the Injured List

The Mets announced a few moves and provided some injury updates earlier today in a press conference with General Manager Zack Scott. The Mets claimed right-handed pitcher Nick Tropeano off waivers from the Giants and assigned him to Triple-A Syracuse. If that name sounds oddly familiar, it is because the Mets claimed Tropeano off of waivers last October from the Pirates, only to have him elect free agency in December.

Tropeano has pitched six innings for San Francisco this season, giving up four hits and two walks, while striking out two. Tropeano has never made more than 14 appearances in a season for any club, and has both started and relieved over the course of his career.
