Shortly after the major, franchise-altering news that Steve Cohen’s purchase of the Mets had been approved, the Mets claimed Nick Tropeano and Jacob Barnes, a pair of right-handed pitchers, on waivers.
With the offseason having just gotten underway, the team seems incredibly likely to make more significant moves, but the 30-year-old Tropeano had a good, albeit short, 2020 season with a 1.15 ERA and 2.55 FIP in 15.2 innings of relief work for the Pirates. Before this year, he had been a starting pitcher in all but one of his major league appearances, with all of his previous work having come with the Angels.
