After losing their entire starting outfield to injuries over the last seven games, the New York Mets have claimed former Philadelphia Phillies outfield Aaron Altherr off waivers. To make room for Altherr, the club has designated reliever Tim Peterson for assignment.
The 28-year-old Altherr produced a .221/.311/.405 slash line with a 92 wRC+ for the Phillies since making his major league debut in 2014. His best year came in 2017, when he hit .272/.340/.516 with 19 home runs, a 121 wRC+ and career-best 1.4 fWAR while appearing in a career-high 107 games for Philadelphia.
