Mets OF Yoenis Cespedes will play in a simulated game in St. Lucie on Monday.
Cespedes, who last played in the Majors on May 13, is slated to play five innings in left field.
Mickey Callaway said that on Saturday that Cespedes may even return as a DH for the team's series against the Yankees in the Bronx next weekend.
The 32-year-old Cespedes played two rehab games with Binghamton in June before suffering a setback, with the Mets later classifying his health issue as chronic.
Cespedes is hitting .255/.316/.474 with eight home runs and 28 RBI in 37 games this season.
