Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes left Wednesday’s game in Philadelphia in the third inning after being hit in the left hand by a pitch. X-Rays after the game came back negative and Cespedes was diagnosed with a contusion on his ring and middle fingers.
After getting hit with the pitch, Cespedes crouched down near home plate before being removed from the game. He was replaced in center field by Kirk Nieuwenhuis.
Concern grew among the fanbase when the results of Cespedes’ X-Rays took over an hour to be released.
In the sixth inning of the game, after Hansel Robles was ejected for nearly hitting Darin Ruf with a pitch and both benches emptied, Cespedes returned from the clubhouse to the dugout and tried to get on the field.
