Mets catcher passes concussion protocol but doesn’t play

TORONTO — Devin Mesoraco has passed all his tests for a possible concussion, but will continue to monitor the situation.

The Mets catcher was removed from Tuesday’s game after he was hit in the face while behind the plate by a pitch that first struck Randal Grichuk. Later, Mesoraco caught a backswing to the head.

Mesoraco, who says he has sustained two previous concussions in his career, was cleared to play for Wednesday’s 6-3 win over the Blue Jays, but was on the bench. He expects to be examined by a doctor on Thursday, when the Mets return to New York.
