An event designed to celebrate a Mets legend is now being overshadowed by Carlos Beltran’s uncertain future as manager.
As the Mets gather Thursday morning in Port St. Lucie, Fla. to rename a street outside their spring training ballpark after Mike Piazza, all attention will be on Beltran, who MLB implicated in the Houston Astros’ sign-stealing scandal that has led to two suspensions and three firings.
According to The Post’s Mike Puma, the Mets won’t announce the fate of Beltran on Wednesday and it’s unclear whether the organization will address Beltran’s shaky situation before or after the Piazza ceremony.
