The Mets dropped another excruciatingly frustrating game to a team they should’ve beat, losing to the Rockies, the worst team in the NL, by a score of 6-3. Luis Severino didn’t pitch great, but the biggest issue tonight was the Mets’ continued inability to get a big hit in nearly any situation.
It started off promising, however. The Mets jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning when Harrison Bader poked a single over the shortstop’s head to score two.
But in Coors Field, you usually need more than two runs. The Rockies started pecking away in the bottom half of the second, when Severino hit Brendan Rodgers with a pitch, and then Kris Bryant ripped a base hit into the gap.
