The Mets are adding left-handed pitcher Stephen Tarpley to their roster today, making him available as the 27th man for both games of today’s doubleheader with the Phillies. Tarpley, who the Mets claimed off of waivers from Miami on January 8th, has been at the team’s alternate site since the regular season began.
Tarply was drafted by the Orioles in 2013, making his big league debut in 2018 with the Yankees. Our own Vasilis Drimalitis described Tarpley’s 2018 thusly in his season preview:
Stephen Tarpley is no stranger to New York, having broken through in 2018 with the crosstown Yankees.
