The Mets announced today that they called up right-hander Kevin Herget from Triple-A Syracuse, and DFA-ed José Ureña as the corresponding move on the roster. Herget is currently 1-0 with a 3.72 ERA in Triple-A, and was claimed off of waivers in the offseason from Milwaukee. He grew up rooting for the Mets in Teaneck, NJ.
Ureña’s only appearance with the Mets came in the 19-5 blow out against the Nationals. With the game well in hand Carlos Mendoza did not want to use more bullpen than necessary, so unfortunately for Ureña he was tasked with finishing off the game.
