In light of Devin Mesoraco’s ongoing neck injury, the Mets are adding catcher Jose Lobaton back to the major league roster. To make room on the 40-man roster, reliever Bobby Wahl has been transferred to the 60-day DL.
Lobaton was last up with the Mets on June 11, before being designated for assignment in Triple-A Las Vegas for the rest of the season. The 33-year-old appeared in 19 games on the major league roster, hitting .152/.264/.239 with two doubles, a triple and three RBI. He will slot in as the team’s third catcher behind Kevin Plawecki and Tomas Nido.
