the Mets have called up Corey Oswalt from Triple-A Las Vegas and optioned young flamethrower Gerson Bautista back down to Double-A Binghamton. Oswalt was first called up to the big leagues on April 10 at the expense of Brandon Nimmo.
Oswalt had been called up in case the Mets needed to use an extra arm in the bullpen for the game before Zack Wheeler’s first start of the season the following night. Oswalt warmed up, but he was not used in the game. The Mets sent him back down to Triple-A for Wheeler the following day, but he’ll look to stick around for longer than just one game this time.
