That wasn’t “Drew” resonating from the stands at Citi Field on Tuesday.
Drew Smith was a bright spot among the relievers to audition for the Mets this summer, but lately he’s been among the underwhelming arms in the bullpen.
This time he inherited Robert Gsellman’s mess in the seventh inning and couldn’t escape, allowing the go-ahead hit in the Mets’ 7-3 loss to the Braves at Citi Field.
Ronald Acuna Jr.’s two-run single — both runs were charged to Gsellman — put the Braves ahead after Smith had unleashed a wild pitch that scored Kurt Suzuki.
