The Mets are above .500 since July 1 in large part because of their offense, but also because of the improved performances in their bullpen.
Overall, the bullpen has 28 losses this season, which is tied for third- most in the majors. The bulk of those losses occurred during May and June when the Mets were 15-39. And the bullpen is responsible for much of that losing -- especially during a horrid stretch in late mid-to-late June.
However, in 71 innings during August, the team's relievers have a 2.66 ERA, which is the fourth-lowest mark in the majors.
