CHICAGO — Matt Harvey’s best wasn’t good enough.
The ace right-hander put his team in excellent position to snap a two-game skid Wednesday night with seven shutout innings, but somehow the Mets managed to blow it.
Jeurys Familia walked Chris Coghlan with the bases loaded in the ninth to force in the winning run in the Mets’ 2-1 loss to the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
The Cubs had loaded the bases against Carlos Torres before Familia entered, recorded an out and then walked Coghlan as Torres picked up the loss.
Harvey fired seven scoreless innings in which he allowed three hits with nine strikeouts and two walks over 100 pitches.
