LOS ANGELES — The underbelly of the Mets bullpen was exposed Monday night, sending tremors through the visitor’s dugout at Dodger Stadium.
Tyler Bashlor and Daniel Zamora were battered in a sixth inning that wouldn’t end, only underscoring Jacob deGrom’s mediocre night that concluded early because of pitch-count concerns.
By the time the sun set, the Dodgers had scored six runs in the sixth, helping them coast to a 9-5 victory that snapped the Mets’ two-game winning streak.
If the bullpen wasn’t a big enough eyesore, the Mets had three runners thrown out on the bases, including Carlos Gomez at third by Cody Bellinger to end the eighth, negating a sacrifice fly that would have sliced the Dodgers’ lead even further after two runs had scored in the inning.
