LOS ANGELES — Bring on the Cubs.
The Mets’ path to the National League pennant is blocked by a team they have failed miserably against in recent seasons, but in the middle of a champagne-soaked visitors’ clubhouse at Dodger Stadium that didn’t seem to matter much.
“We’re a different team than we were,” said Michael Cuddyer, whose Mets went 0-7 against the Cubs this season. “Obviously our offense is a little different, our confidence is a lot different than when we faced them.”
The Mets were swept four games at Wrigley Field in May — including Noah Syndergaard’s major league debut — and then lost three straight against the Cubs at Citi Field beginning on June 30.
