After one of those games that’s best forgotten on Friday, the Mets bounced back and topped the Pirates 5-2 on Saturday afternoon. Luis Torrens continued to hit the ball well, while the bullpen - despite some theatrics from Reed Garrett - looked as solid as it has in a while en route to their 43rd win of the season.
The Mets really did their best to avoid scoring in the early going. After putting runners on second and third with no outs in the first, they failed to score. They wasted a baserunner on a caught stealing, then stranded another at second base in the second.
