Through eight games of the regular season, there’s absolutely no reason to fear the worst. However, the 2016 New York Mets have seen better days at the plate. Heading into the weekend, New York is one of two teams batting below the Mendoza Line (along with still winless Atlanta). The Mets are also 29th in runs scored, only ahead of the AL’s last remaining winless team in Minnesota: far from the best company to be in after nearly two weeks.
