Mets border on wrong side of patient-passive line

Through eight games of the regular season, there’s absolutely no reason to fear the worst. However, the 2016 New York Mets have seen better days at the plate. Heading into the weekend, New York is one of two teams batting below the Mendoza Line (along with still winless Atlanta). The Mets are also 29th in runs scored, only ahead of the AL’s last remaining winless team in Minnesota: far from the best company to be in after nearly two weeks.

Yuck. It hasn’t been pretty, but could it be a factor of being too patient? Allow me to explain with this statistic to lead off.
