After the Mets’ bats finally woke up last night after almost a week of slumber, they looked to win the series and keep the runs coming. This was a bit of a monkey’s paw situation, because while, yes, the Mets scored six runs, the Athletics’ bats woke up too, and the Mets dropped the series finale 7-6. And, to boot, it was a slog of a game that dragged on nearly four hours.
Jose Quintana started for the Mets and got into trouble in the first inning, allowing two singles and a walk to load the bases, but was able to squeak out of it by striking out Zack Gelof to get through unscathed.
