Mets bench coach Bob Geren leaving to join Dodgers

Mets coach Bob Geren is leaving the club to join the Dodgers, where he’ll work in the same capacity under new Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports.

Geren, 54, had served as the Mets’ bench coach since the 2012 season and had interviewed for the Dodgers managerial opening earlier this offseason.

According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, the Mets will look to fill the coaching vacancy internally.

As I noted right after the news was broken by Rosenthal, it’s logical to assume that current Mets third base coach Tim Teufel will be promoted to bench coach, with the team then promoting one of their minor league managers to third base coach.
