LOS ANGELES - Not even Jeurys Familia was sure. The right-hander had always been pegged as the Mets closer of the future, but this April when Jenrry Mejia was suspended for PED use, no one was certain that Familia was ready.
But they had no choice to throw him in the fire and see.
“I thought I could,” Familia said about being the closer, “but I hadn’t done it before, so I was a little nervous. But every time I went out there, my confidence grew.”
And the Mets confidence in him has grown as well.
