Mets beat Braves in series opener for their fourth-straight win

The Mets opened their four-game series against the Braves with a 3-2 win in ten innings that pulled them within a half-game of Atlanta in the standings—a notion that was downright unfathomable at the end of May.

With the resurgent Chris Sale on the mound for the Braves, Luis Severino pitched admirably if inefficiently in his start. Severino cracked first, as he gave up a run on an Orlando Arcia single in the top of the second. But Francisco Lindor continued to play exceptionally and put the Mets on top with a two-home run against Sale in the bottom of the third.
