Mets' bats sputter behind Wheeler

Harper's solo shot marked the first run against Zack Wheeler, who hit 97 mph in his second Grapefruit League start. Wheeler also allowed a Stephen Drew RBI double in the second inning and a Ryan Zimmerman run-scoring single in the third. He threw 50 pitches, striking out two with a walk.

"I just felt a little rusty, but it will come around," Wheeler said. "The pitches were coming out good."

Continuing his strong spring, Nationals starter Gio Gonzalez did not allow a hit over five shutout innings. It wasn't until Asdrubal Cabrera doubled with one out in the seventh that the Mets recorded their first hit.
