The Mets offense—having scored 32 runs over their five-game win streak—hit the brakes on Saturday.
With a season-best start from Braves starter Spencer Schwellenbach, the Braves beat the Mets 4-0 Saturday afternoon at Citi Field.
Schwellenbach outdueled Mets starter Tylor Megill, allowing two hits over seven scoreless innings while striking out 11. The Mets offense managed four hits, including a double from Jeff McNeil in the second and another double from Pete Alonso in the fourth.
Hits from Luis Torrens and Brandon Nimmo in the ninth inning kept the Mets alive, but a strikeout from Alonso ended the game and capped the Mets’ five-game win streak.
