The Mets kept the good times rolling back in Flushing, defeating a surging Royals team by a decisive score of 6-1 to kick off this homestand.
The small, but mighty crowd set a positive tone by greeting the struggling Francisco Lindor with a loud ovation in the first inning. Lindor responded to the praise by hitting the first ball he saw a long way, but unfortunately it was foul. The Citi Field faithful would have to wait to erupt, but their patience was rewarded.
The Royals struck first, however, in the bottom of the second in the form of a booming solo homer off the bat of Salvador Perez.
