It didn’t take long for Bartolo Colon to gain Terry Collins’ trust in his shift to the bullpen.
Colon entered this season with just six relief appearances in 18 major-league seasons, but the longtime starter worked out of the pen twice towards the end of the regular season and then twice more in the first three games of the NL division series against the Dodgers.
Despite Colon working two innings in Monday’s 13-7 victory, Mets manager Terry Collins expected the veteran righty to be available to back up rookie starter Steven Matz one night later in Game 4.
