Mets OF Yoenis Cespedes had an MRI on Monday and the team is waiting for a diagnosis on his heel issues -- something Cespedes said over the weekend could require surgery and an eight-to-10 month recovery process.
Assistant GM John Ricco said the Mets are trying to find out if the heel issues have progressed to the point where they're something that can't be managed with conservative treatment.
"Part of the reason we have him being seen by these doctors is to give us more clarity," Ricco added, saying the team was aware of the heel issues when they traded for Cespedes and both times they re-signed him.
